So the primer is drafted. I’ll be taking a few days off and then I will dedicate ten days, starting on Monday to re-write the whole thing. Once that is done, it will be for my proof-reader to check it.

It will be a piece of cake for Davina, I’m sure. It’s about 8,000 words now, and it will not be one word over 10,000. In about 30 pages you will have everything you need to play an adventure, including four pregenerated characters, the character sheet and an adventure script.

I have taken great pains (ask my eyes) to make the e-book readable. A nice standard font, single column, so it looks great on your screen and plenty of white space, with no distracting borders. There will be a few illustrations of good taste and quality to get you in the proper mood.

Forsaken, the adventure

As for the adventure, it’s based on a premise I read or watched somewhere as a boy and obsessed me enough to last into adulthood. When I was a counsellor I used it to scare the youknowwhat out of my campers and so I did when I worked as a houseparent in a children’s home. I’ve written a few variations of this story, and discarded them all, never been satisfied with them. I love it and that’s why I offer it.

Imagine you are 12, just back from school and then nobody, absolutely nobody even your mom knows your name. It’s not just the shock, or being suddenly homeless, owning nothing but a few coins and whatever is in your backpack, it’s that something powerful, evil and cruel is after you.

Oh, and it’s Halloween.

Of course, in a role-playing game there should be always be a way out. And there is one in this adventure, but one which requires courage, being able to tell friend from foe and some thinking. Are you up to it?
